WASHINGTON - Ben Olsen had the first three-goal game of his career to help D.C. United beat the first-place New York Red Bulls 4-2 on Sunday.
Olsen, who has four goals in the past two home games, had not scored more than three goals in any of the previous three seasons for United. He has 24 goals in his MLS career, which began with United (4-3-2) in 1998. New York fell to 6-3-2.
Luciano Emilio's goal in the 49th minute broke a 1-1 tie and came on a crossing pass from Fred. Emilio's shot into the right corner of the net beat diving goalie Ronald Waterreus for New York.
