NSW: Police rescue three girls trapped by flooding at Bankstown
SYDNEY, April 5 AAP - Police rescued three teenage girls after they were trapped in
a car by floodwaters at Bankstown in Sydney's south-west.
Two officers made their way through waist-deep water to take the girls to safety when
they noticed them stuck inside a car that had been surrounded by rising water.
The officers, from Bankstown police, were patrolling around Milperra Road and Henry
Lawson Drive to assist with traffic management following flooding.
They noticed the girls in trouble - two Revesby girls, aged 13 and 14, and a Doonside
girl, aged 14 - about 2pm.
A 47-year-old Revesby woman told police her car had become stuck in the flooded street,
the situation worsening after she went for help.
A passer-by assisted police in winching the car out of the water.
