Lancaster job fair draws fewer candidates than sponsors hoped

With unemployment low, most employers can't wait for workers to come to them. Instead, they have to find new ways to attract workers.

But if a recent job fair in Lancaster County is any indicator, companies seeking skilled workers will need to try something more creative to find the workers they need.

Daniel C. Witmer, president of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said only about 200 people showed up for the job fair, held on March 19 at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. According to Witmer, the fair was held at the request of Lancaster-area employers.
